HANYS' 2012 Leadership Advocacy Day

This event is for HANYS' members only.

HANYS and the allied associations, in conjunction with the Healthcare Trustees of New York State (HTNYS), will host Leadership Advocacy Day to enable executive and trustee leadership teams to meet with their local legislators and express their concerns about the proposed 2012-2013 state budget. Members will also have the opportunity to hear from New York State's legislative leaders and health committee chairs regarding the proposed budget during a luncheon address.

This event is a critical component of our state budget advocacy. Engaging your legislators is key, and the importance of our message is in part demonstrated by your willingness to come meet with them in Albany.

Leadership Advocacy Day 2012 will focus on the following key messages:

  • the essential role of health care providers in communities;
  • the fiscal challenges you face from years of state and federal cuts;
  • clarifying that a 4% increase in the Medicaid spending cap does not translate into increased reimbursement for providers;
  • the need for the State Legislature's full engagement in setting public policy; and
  • the need to clear barriers that impede innovation, including regulatory redesign and managed care changes.

HANYS has secured a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn Express-Downtown Albany and the Hampton Inn & Suites Albany Downtown (use code A31). The cut-off date to receive the group rate is February 21.
